Firefighters have put out a van fire outside of a house in Sandbach.

A crew from Sandbach fire station were called to the scene at around 1:48pm today on Ruscoe Avenue.

On arrival the crew found the van "well alight" on the roadway.

A Cheshire fire service spokesperson said: "The road was closed and a firefighter wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet. The van was then damped down to make it safe."

The crew was on the scene for around 45 minutes. The cause of the fire has not been revealed.
