Firefighters were called to a fire in a flat in Sandbach town centre last night (Sunday).

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and jet to attend to the fire in Welles Street just before 11 pm.

The fire was out when fire crews arrived by the flat and corridor were full of heavy smoke following the fire caused by cooking.

One person was offered first aid for smoke inhalation by the fire crews.
