A fitness fan and advocate of mental fitness has set up a Sandbach walk and talk group for men.
Former Bentley worker, David Carter, has set up Sandbach Men Walking and Talking to help others improve their fitness and mental stamina.
And although the group, which meets on Tuesdays from 6.30 pm for an hour is relatively new, there are already more than 40 members aged between 20 and 65.
The father-of-two from Elworth, has even found that his group was mentioned recent by local MP, Sarah Russell, in her maiden speech in the House of Commons.
"It's such a brilliant idea," said David. "The idea comes from Dan Reid who founded Men Walking and Talking in mid-2021.
"Like Dan's original idea, the goal is simple: to create a safe space for men to share, connect and support each other."
Each week, David, whose instagram page is here and link to the groups here plans a route, often round the town's historic centre and the walks are planned so they can be at a chilled pace.
"As men, we need to honour our bodies and listen to them. It's about rewriting the narrative and taking control, making real changes and inspiring others," he said.
"Many men find themselves trying to find meaning in a world that moves too fast instead of accepting 'that's life'."
After an injury cut David's career in the army short, he landed a role at Bentley Motors in Crewe before taking redundancy in 2023.
Now he is following a career in personal training and strength coaching as well as running this group.
"I'm quite strong in myself but I've also had my battles. It's ok to say I am a man and struggling," said David.
"Men need a purpose in life and with more technology and consumerism this has sometimes led to us being distant from relationships.
"The idea of the group is to share experiences and support each other. Just come along and try it!"
Anyone who wants to join the group should meet outside Sandbach library at 6.30 pm on Tuesday nights.
