Sandbach's rich industrial history has been honoured recently at two events in the town.

A local historian who has spent almost all of his life in the town shared his historical documents at a special exhibition last weekend.

Stewart Green is passionate about Sandbach's history and last Saturday (October 19), he displayed a fraction of his massive collection at Cheshire Local History Day at Sandbach Town Hall.

During his life, Stewart has amassed a huge collection of valuable historical information about the town which has been his home since he was aged six. Many of the documents are stored at his Sandbach Heath home.

And this week also saw another part of the town's famous links with the truck maker Fodens shared as part of Cheshire Life's 90th anniversary.

Sandbach Library was one of the venues to stage the Cheshire Life 90th anniversary exhibition to honour the magazine's past, present and future and on display was a poster showing 'Three Big Wins for Fodens'.

The library's Marriott Room displayed a collection of memorabilia about the magazine celebrating a milestone in its history.

But the town's famous links with Fodens, as we documented here in a recent story, don't stop here.

The Old Hall, which recently reopened after a £140,000 refit, now has the front page of The Foden News from 1941 with the tag, 'Easy Starting from the Cold, Best Wishes for a Good Start and Brightening Outlook for 1941'.

The beautiful framed front page was found at the top of the cellar stairs but sadly only women will be able to see it as it's been put on display in the ladies' toilets.
