Flat fire cause is revealed

By Deborah Bowyer 1st Jul 2021

The cause of a flat fire in which two people were taken to hospital and residents evacuated has been confirmed.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service say accidental electrical ignition was the reason for the blaze at Sunnymill Drive flats on Middlewich Road in Sandbach.

The two residents had to be taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

Six fire engines and an aerial fire appliance were at the scene and people living in nearby flats and houses were advised to keep windows and doors shut.

The road was also shut and diversions in place while the fire, on Tuesday morning, was dealt with.
