A Sandbach pub came to the rescue when a football team had to change their presentation venue at the last minute.

Kites U8s were due to have their annual presentation at Sandbach United FC's grounds but at the last-minute, team manager Jaime Evans (pictured below), had to find an alternative venue.

The Military Arms in Congleton Road came to the rescue and now Jaime has said a big thank you to the Sandbach pub for their hospitality.

"We were notified by club officials of an ongoing incident in and around the area just a few hours ahead of our annual presentation evening," said Jaime.

"The club reacted quickly to those events but, unfortunately, notified members that the facilities were to be temporarily closed.

"Within minutes, I made a phone call to find an alternative. I have enjoyed visits to the Military before now and knew of their supportive nature.

"After explaining the situation to the landlords, they happily offered a dedicated area for us to host the awards."

Jaime added: "Tina and the team were incredibly accommodating and supportive throughout the whole evening.

"The presentation was a huge success, and everyone in attendance complimented the local establishment for their warm reception, especially in light of the sudden influx of young people (and their families) visiting."
