"I have constantly endeavoured, over 14 years, to reciprocate the care and kindness shown to me, especially when people have come to me for help, when they have had nowhere else to turn."

She added: "In this work, I want to thank my remarkably dedicated staff, Stephanie Breadon and Harriet Crompton, who over the whole of that period have worked tirelessly in support of local people.

"I also want to thank the local Conservative councillors and volunteers who supported my campaign.
