Motorists travelling in and out of Sandbach have faced delays all week but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Workmen were seen working today (Wednesday) on the problem on Middlewich Road opposite McDonald's and near Aldi.

A spokesperson from Cheshire East Council's Highways said: "Following an investigation, works to repair the emergency carriageway defect will commence on 8th July (Monday) and are expected to be completed on Friday (12th July).

"The road closure and 3-way traffic signals will remain in place until the completion date. Thank you for your patience."
