TV director, Ruth Carney from Sandbach is famous for her work on a host of productions from the Caribbean crime drama Death in Paradise to Brassic, Casualty, Father Brown, Emmerdale and more.

For her current filming though, she has swapped the heat in Guadeloupe where Death in Paradise is filmed, for the cooler climate of Scotland.

Ruth is filming a new series of Shetland, the detective drama starring Ashley Jensen.

Ruth, who did an MA in Theatre Directing in Russia and Middlesex after her degree at the University of Sheffield, is currently in Scotland with the rest of the team shooting series 10 of Shetland.

Ruth lives in Sandbach Heath but grew up in Talke Pits . She said on her Social Media account: "Over the moon to announce I'm joining the Shetland team. What a cast and crew I am fortunate to work with."

Ruth has shared various photographs of Shetland and Scotland saying: "Well this is a rather amazing place. Just breathtaking."

On another photo she said: "Every turn here is a 'wow' moment" and on another: "More breathtaking moments in Shetland."

She told Sandbach Nub News: "I'm in prep in Glasgow and on Shetland and then start filming in June."

Ruth has developed an extensive porfolio of work and shares some of it on her Instgram account. Earlier this year, two episodes of the Sunday drama, 'Call the Midwife' starring Jenny Agutter which she had directed, were shown on TV.

Sandbach Nub News wishes Ruth all the best with 'Shetland' and can't wait to see her work.
