As a child, Lisa Travers would watch and listen to her dad Brian Travers blasting out melodic tunes on his guitar.

Now the 34-year-old singer songwriter is blasting out her own tunes - and is number eight in the Country Artists Albums Chart.

Lisa has just released an album/EP, 'Nice to Meet You - Again' which is making big waves on the music scene as you would expect from the talented singer who's appeared at Glastonbury. Listen to it here

And next weekend, Lisa T and her band have performances closer to home at Stoke City stadium as well as the Nantwich Jazz, Blue and Music Festival over the Easter weekend.

"I always wanted to be a singer," said Lisa, who splits her time between her parents' home in Sandbach and a flat she owns in Salford Quays in Manchester.

"I love Sandbach and I'm here whenever I can be. I always wanted to be a singer and when I was growing up my mum took me to singing lessons in Middlewich.

"I used to listen to my dad playing beautiful Irish country songs growing up. He occasionally joins me on stage which is lovely."

Lisa recorded her album at a studio in Leeds, which features tracks such as 'This Country Song' and 'Stop Lovin' Me'. The artwork for the album was shot on the streets of Leeds.

She writes all her own songs, sometimes based around personal experiences and taking a long look at life - something you would expect from a psychology student.

Lisa did a degree in psychology at Bangor University, knowledge which is not only helpful with her singing but also the other side of her work - practising well-being and using her singing to help out at well-being events.

"Singing is so good for the mind and body," said Lisa. "Breathing correctly is important for singing," says Lisa who will soon be leaving her job as a well-being manager with a recruitment company to concetrate on her musical career.

She said: "I'm so excited about the future. I'm going out to Nashville to look at the music scene there. I grew up listening to Shania Twain whose music I adore.

"There's just something about country music which I like. It's been a crazy few years. The album/EP was two years in the making and I'm so pleased with it.

"I'm very fortunate to have a talented band and my guitarist Luke Slater is brilliant. We played a half hour slot at Glastonbury in 2022 which was amazing."

And although Lisa and her band get booked for gigs all over the North West, she's still happy to appear nearer to home and even in the town she grew up. On May 22nd, she will be singing at Casa Mia in Sandbach.

"I just love performing my music. It's all I've ever wanted to do."
