From Sandbach to Murrayfield, former Sandbach School pupil and Sandbach Rugby Club Ewan Ashman made his debut yesterday (Sunday) for Scotland - and helped them triumph to victory.

The top rugby player, who plays for Sale Sharks, started his sporting career at the Bradwall Road club where teammates and players were cheering him on.

Ewan made his debut yesterday when Scotland they played Australia winning 15-13 in the Autumn Nations Series, helping them race to triumph scoring Scotland's second try.

We told in July click here how the talented sportsman spent a day at his old school, taking part in Q & A sessions as opening the Crewe Road School's new power based gym.

Simon Robertson, Director of Sport and Physical Education at Sandbach School told Nub News then said: "We're grateful for Ewan coming to spend the day with us. It was a huge success and lovely to see him again and hear about his achievements and life.

"He was a very keen junior rugby player when he was here as well as a top track and field competitor, playing for the school and Sandbach Rubgy Club and has done so well. We are very, very proud of his achievements and wish him well for the future."

Here's hoping Ewan, whose brother Fraser also went to Sandbach School, continues in his top-flight career and scores many more tries for Scotland.
