A Sandbach woman who has been badly injured in a skydiving accident in Spain faces months of recovery to get better.
Holly Dunn was skydiving in Seville when a sudden change of wind caused her to collide with a car at around 60 mph.
She was rushed to hospital and has undergone two rounds of surgery and will now need another operation.
Now childhood friends have set up a JustGiving page and are rallying round to raise money to pay for intensive physiotherapy and other treatment she will need.
Holly, who went to Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College, had found a new passion in her life – skydiving, rapidly flying through all levels to achieve optimum status and fly solo.
"However devastatingly, a few days ago our lives changed in a heartbeat. We had the worst call any family could receive to say Holly had been in a skydiving accident," says the JustGiving post.
"She was caught by a sudden change of wind that caused her to collide with a car at approximately 60 mph.
"Holly has suffered multiple injuries causing a shattered pelvis and a huge laceration to her leg, fractures to her coccyx, pubis and L5 vertebrae. She underwent immediate surgery to stop the bleeding and staple her leg.
"They also placed bolts into her knee and a metal rod to keep her pelvis pulled down. days of her temperature being erratic, enlarging of liver and four blood transfusions later, Holly underwent five hours of surgery to repair her pelvis.
"The pain she has been in has been heartbreaking to witness. Holly had her second surgery and had three pins to each side of the pelvis and plates to the front and back to secure.
"Holly will now face three to six months of recovery before she can begin to learn to walk again. This will require extensive rehabilitation."
The JustGiving page here has already reached £4,380 – just days after being set up and friends are hoping money will keep coming in.
"We want to thank our friends and family for their constant love and support, you have kept us going through this hugely stressful time and we as a family feel so loved."
Sandbach Nub News wishes Holly a speedy recovery and will keep readers updated on her progress.
