The funeral of a 24-year-old British solder from Sandbach who died in the Ukraine takes place today (Monday).

Jordan Gatley who went to school in Sandbach died fighting alongside the Ukrainian forces against Russian invaders in early June.

Jordan, a former pupil of Sandbach School, was shot and killed in the city of Severodonetsk, Ukraine.

His funeral service takes place at 1.30 pm at St Mary's Church in Nantwich before the final journey to the crematorium in Crewe at 2.45 pm.

A wake will then take place at Sandbach Rugby Club in Bradwall Road.
