In a new initiative that Tatton Park is trialling dogs on short leads into Tatton's formal gardens every day through the summer.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes can explore fifty acres of formal and landscaped gardens with their owners, enjoying the views and finding their favourite picnic spot in the longer summer days.

"Not everyone loves dogs, and some people fear them, so visitors are reminded to make sure their dogs don't approach other people, especially children, unless it's invited to," said a spokesperson.

"Remember to always pick up your pooches' poo too!"

They added: "In addition to the gardens, there are some wonderful parkland walks for visitors with dogs to explore with over one thousand acres of ancient deer park to enjoy.

"Dogs can exercise off lead, under close control, in the parkland for most of the year but for example, during deer calving time in the spring, dogs will need to be on leads and under close control from 1 May – 31 July 2024.

"This is to help support efforts to protect precious parkland wildlife, farm animals and habitats."

Tatton Park is managed and financed by Cheshire East Council on behalf of the National Trust.

It receives in the region of 750,000 visitors every year. There is picturesque parkland, an 8th century Mansion, medieval Old Hall, award-winning gardens and a rare breed farm.
