The Sandbach branch of a group set up to help people who have had strokes has announced the date and venue o its inaugural meeting.

Enough people came forward at an event held by the Stroke Survivors Speech and Language group at Ashfields Primary Care Centre as told here for organisers to announce they are setting up a new group in the town.

Now the first meeting of the Sandbach branch of the Stroke Survivors Speech and Language group takes place on Wednesday, September 6th at Sandbach Rugby Club in Bradwall Road.

And all further weekly meetings of the Sandbach branch will also take place at Sandbach Rugby Club where there is ample parking.

The group will run in parallel with its other two groups – Crewe and Alsager, the latter which meets on Thursdays and the former on Tuesdays.

It will be co-ordinated by Arthur Harding who is now looking after launching one new group a year in other towns.

Arthur Harding, who himself has had two strokes, is looking forward to the launch of the Sandbach group.

He said: "It's all come about much quicker than we thought. Whatever we do at the  Crewe group will be mirrored by Sandbach and then the Alsager one.

"It's a very exciting time and we're looking forward to starting this new group in Sandbach."

Founder, Liz Bedson, set up the first group in Crewe in 2018 after her own father had a stroke. A second group was set up in Alsager in May last year as Alsager Nub News told here .
