Headteacher at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College, Ellen Walton, has heaped praise on 'high flying' students who have achieved amazing results.

There was a buzz in the hall of the Middlewich Road school today (Thursday) as students opened their results.

The school has praised students for their 'sense of determination and collaboration' as they worked hard in challenging circumstances during the pandemic.

Mrs Walton said she was delighted with this year's GCSE and vocational qualification results after the disruption to studies caused by the pandemic .

Sixty students averaged grade 7s for all their qualifications with lots of subjects having record high grades such as computer science, product design, music and languages.

Examples are Maggie Chen, Lily Boylin , Grace Reynolds and Imogen Rietkerk who impressively achieved 8 Grade 9s and a Grade 8.

Jasmine Ward will be joining the Sixth Form to study sciences and geography following

her results of Grade 9 x 4, Grade 8 x 4 and Grade 7 x 1.

Headteacher Ellen Walton praised students for their 'incredible success'. She said: "It has been a great day in school today.  I am so proud of our students and their teachers.

"What they have achieved in such difficult circumstances demonstrates how hard they have worked.

"We have some real high flyers and I would like to thank not only staff but also parents and carers for their support. Well done to the class of 2022."'

As well as students deciding to start post-16 courses, the school also has students starting apprenticeships such as Eloise Mitchell who is doing an apprenticeship with BA systems in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
