A second horse has been rescued from water in Middlewich.

Sandbach Nub News told yesterday here how a horse named Katie was rescued from a stream in Cledford Lane, Middlewich on Saturday (26 September).

Now a small horse which got stuck in a brook yesterday (Monday) has also been rescued. One fire engine from Knutsford and one of the weekday fire engines went to the incident at 12.46 pm and the animal rescue unit from Knutsford.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Specialist animal rescue-trained firefighters were called to help a small horse that had become stuck in a brook around one metre deep.

"Firefighters entered the water and safely rescued the horse before returning it to its owners at the scene. The horse is not believed to have suffered any injuries and was in good health."
