Housing developer submits demolition plan for much-loved Crewe hotel
A housing developer has submitted its demolition plan for Crewe's Hunters Lodge Hotel - approved for 55 dwellings and a care home.
Seddon Homes officially submitted its demolition plan for Hunters Lodge Hotel, Sydney Road, on Wednesday (November 23).
Cheshire East Council's southern planning committee gave the go-ahead for the scheme off Sydney Road in late September.
The approval came despite concerns there would be some incursion into the local Green Gap.
Owners of the Hunters Lodge Hotel, Andy and Nicky Panayi operated the venue for almost 40 years between 1981 and 2021.
Seddon Homes seeks permission to demolish the former Hunters Lodge Hotel so demolition works can commence while section 106 is being drafted.
Demolition notices have been placed around the former wedding venue site.
50 full-time jobs will be created from the 24-hour care element of the scheme.
A project description on planning application reads: "The project comprises the demolition of a former public house and hotel inclusive of slabs and footings.
"Hard-core to be crushed and left on site. All other materials to be removed to licensed waste facilities."
The development was unanimously approved with a number of conditions, including cycle storage, boundary planting.
Discussions are taking place over the location of a new crossing on Sydney Road.
The last date for submitting comments on the demolition plans was Monday 28 November.
Seddon Homes' target decision date is Tuesday 20 December.
