A huge new independent live music venue for Crewe has delayed opening until later in 2023 - ensuring the project works 'for all parties.'

The International live music venue, events space and bar was set to open at the former MMU refectory, at the site of Apollo Buckingham Health Sciences Campus, off Crewe Green Road, this May.

This new 850-capacity venue will be run by 'leading' event management company, Music Is Now - based on the North Wales/England border.

Work has been going on the site since July 2022 - just a 10-minute walk from Crewe Railway Station and opposite Crewe Business Park.

This month (February), The International provided an update - confirming its Crewe opening had been postponed until later in the year.

An Instagram statement read: "Unfortunately, it now appears our grand opening will be delayed until later in the year.

"This does mean we've had to postpone the upcoming announcements we were due to make over the next week or so.

"Our team have been working really hard since July 2022 on this project and we'll continue to do so until we get that confirmed opening date"

An Instagram page, theintercrewe, was set up last November - confirming the news of a new music venue for the town.

The International is currently in talks with the owners of the building - ensuring the project works 'for all parties.'

Its statement added: "The ownership of the venue is very complex so there are numerous bodies we need to work with to make this project work for all parties.
