Jobs of the week: how do you fancy covering a League One football club?

The pandemic has had a big impact on the jobs market and these are difficult times for job seekers.

But there are still job opportunities available in the Sandbach and the surrounding areas which we have listed in the Sandbach Nub News jobs section.

Every week, we are showcasing a job opportunity in the Sandbach area.

This week we have two roles that are bound to grab your attention. One is for a Crewe Alexandra Football Reporter to lead a dedicated section on the League One club on Crewe Nub News.

The other vacancy is also with Nub News and is for a copywriter to work with our journalists on our partnership with the Co-op.

Crewe Alexandra Football Reporter

You will need to be an enthusiastic and skilled reporter to lead our independent Crewe Alex section.

You will need a deep understanding of the beautiful game to make Crewe Alex Nub News a strong voice for the fans and the best source of information, news and views on the club.

Nub News wants a multi-talented lover of football with the ability to write, broadcast, commentate and explore all aspects of a club that is right at the heart of its community.

Requirements for the role:

- A crisp writing style. Considered, analytical match reporting is vital as well as the ability to get to the heart of important matters on and off the pitch.

- Personable and able to build good relationships with players, staff and directors.

- Prepared to work evenings, weekends and whenever big news breaks.

- Thick-skinned enough to be able to cover all types of stories, both positive and negative for the club, without fear or favour.

- Substantial experience of social media is key, including Facebook Live.

- Journalism qualifications would be an advantage.

Salary: dependent on experience.

Hours: 20 to 40.

Copywriter

Nub News wants a part-time copywriter to work with our talented team of journalists.

We are looking for a self-starter with good communication skills, great organisational qualities, punctuality and the ability to adapt and respond quickly to changing circumstances and deadlines and to work to a defined house style.

The job will come with the help and support of our journalists and the Co-op teams.

The post will be home-based – though will involve liaising with communities across the UK, establishing a rapport and understanding of the Co-op ethos and the community values it shares with Nub News.

Main responsibilities:

- Edit and proofread the partnership articles, ensuring they meet the Co-op's tone of voice and brand guidelines.

- Write copy in Co-op's tone of voice to be used in the partnership.

- Create and maintain a detailed content plan, adapting where needed if changes occur. Meet deadlines and ensure timely publishing of all articles.

- Liaise with Co-op and their agency on a regular basis to deliver progress reports and request any extra information.

- Deliver regular briefings to the journalists, explaining the parameters of the articles and what is required of them. Answer any questions they have or contact the Co-op for more information.

- Track engagement metrics across all articles in detailed reports and provide weekly updates for Co-op.

- Check that all articles and social posts are correct once published, e.g. checking all links are working and relevant parties have been tagged.

- Assist with the creation of proposals for potential partnerships and co-ordinate their execution.
