Latest statistics have revealed just one in three have passed their driving test at Crewe this year - in a time where there is a test waiting list of more than half a million.

In a email sent out to Crewe driving students before their test this month (August),the DVSA has confirmed Crewe has a low driving test pass rate.

Between the first quarter of 2022 (January to March), just 33.6% passed their driving test in Crewe.

The Crewe DVSA Driving Test Centre is located on Nile Street - just 1.2 miles from the town centre.

On average, people in the UK who fail their driving test have to have 14.4 weeks to retake it.

The DVSA say this waiting time could be shorter or longer depending on where you live.

In May this year it was revealed that 530,387 driving students were waiting to take their test.

Last year, Crewe was named among the worst places for people learning to drive.

Crewe was named as the sixth worst place in the UK to drive in 2021 (Ryan Parker).

Car lease comparison site, Moneyshake, named Crewe as the sixth worst in the UK.

This was behind Belvedere, London, Erith London, South Yardley, Birmingham, Kingstanding, Birmingham and Blackburn with Darwen.

The study carried out over a nine-month period, found Crewe driving test centre had a 39.63 per cent pass rate out of the 3,307 tests conducted.

Current DVSA statistics show this poor percentage has dropped further for the first quarter of 2022 by just over 6 per cent.

Crewe did receive a driving boost when its first ever DVSA theory test centre opened within the Victoria Shopping Centre this May.

Since the test was introduced in 1996, learners in Crewe had to travel as far as Chester and Stoke-on-Trent to sit the exam.

The new centre has created six full-time new jobs and eased a backlog of leaners wanting to take their driving theory exams in the local area.
