Large UK footwear retailer set to close down on Crewe retail park
A major UK footwear retailer has announced it will be closing down its Crewe retail park store - following crunch talks with the landlord.
Shoe Zone, Grand Junction Retail Park, announced it is closing down its Crewe store in the near future.
On Friday (February 24), a member of staff at Shoe Zone Crewe told Nub News talks remain ongoing with the landlord.
They said there is a possibility the issues surrounding the Crewe store will be sorted - although this remains unlikely.
Shoe Zone was founded in England in 1917 - with its headquarters based in Leicester.
The chain store sells shoes for women, women and children at small prices.
As of 2021, Shoe Zone had over 410 stores in different cities and towns throughout the UK and Ireland - with over 2,854 employees.
The company sells approximately 16 million pairs of footwear per year.
The likely Shoe Zone closure comes as a further blow to Crewe - with Select Fashion announcing it was closing down its Earle Street store (February 22).
Select Fashion still hopes to remain in the town however - aiming to relocate to another unit.
Crewe Nub News has contacted Shoe Zone for comment.
