A family who have run a fruit and vegetable stall at Sandbach Market for 80 years are retiring.

The Tinsley family, who run Tinsley's Fruit & Veg, have been selling their quality produce from Sandbach since 1947, when Eddie Tinsley set up the stall following his return from the Burma War.

The business has passed down through the family, with son Howard joining his father on the stall in 1978 and Julie starting work with them in 1984, after her marriage to Howard two years earlier.

Son Benjamin has been working alongside his family since 2001, straight from school.

The Tinsleys have also been supported on the stall by Alex and John, who will be familiar faces to Sandbach Market regular visitors.

Howard and Julie have now decided to take a well-earned retirement and their last trading day at Sandbach will be Thursday 15 October.

A spokesperson from Sandbach Town Council said: "Without doubt, the Tinsley family has been a remarkable presence at Sandbach Market and they will certainly be a great loss to both the market and to the town.

"They leave behind an incredible legacy and Sandbach Town Council would like to take this opportunity to wish the Tinsleys all the very best for the future and thank them for the valuable contribution they have made to Sandbach Market over the years."
