The former Lloyds Bank in Sandbach, a Grade II listed building, could be turned into a dental practice if a planning application is approved.

Hampton Dental Care Limited has applied to Cheshire East Council to turn the listed building at 12 Hightown into a "modern dental practice".

This application says "minimal works are proposed for the listed element, specifically the removal of internal openings created as later additions, with the aim of restoring the building to its original form, in line with Cheshire East Local Plan Policy SE 7 (The Historic Environment)".

The internal layout would include three treatment rooms, a waiting area and X-ray room with decontamination store , WC and kitchenette.

The upper floors would initially serve as office space, with potential future expansion for additional treatment rooms, enhancing the building's usability.

The application goes on to say: "To improve accessibility, a platform lift and Doc M compliant staircase will be installed to provide step-free access to the upper floors, aligning with Building Regulations.

"External changes are minimal, including the removal of the original first and second-floor entrance, replaced with a glazed opening matching the existing facade, incorporating a low level masonry stall riser for consistency.

"To the rear yard, the emergency escape door and a high-level window will be relocated for improved internal layout efficiency. At first floor, the existing screen to the flat roof will be renewed, with the opening made narrower."

Residents have until July 3rd to share their views on the application, 25/1916/LBC, which can be viewed here

Lloyds Bank closed its doors in December 2022 and the building has been empty since then.
