Sandbach could be getting another two padel courts in addition to the one already open.

Now Sandbach Rugby Club in Bradwall Road and Sandbach Community Football Centre in Hind Heath Road have also applied to Cheshire East Council for planning permission to build padel courts.

Padel courts are smaller than tennis courts and are enclosed by glass and mesh walls and about a third of the size of a tennis court.

Sandbach RUFC wants to build three padel courts with partial rain canopy and pole mounted flood lighting, following relocation of junior playing pitch within site.

They also want to instal drainage infrastructure, hard and soft landscaping, biodiversity improvements and installation of EV chargers to the side of club house.

The planning application number 25/1687/FUL can be viewed here Residents have until June 26th to make comments about the plan.

Meanwhile Sandbach Community Football Centre in Hind Heath Road has applied here, application 25/1761/FUL, to build two padel courts which it says will contribute to the "health and wellbeing of the local community" through improved access to sport and recreation facilities.

The application, which can be viewed here says the padel courts would occupy a small portion of the wider site and do not require significant excavation or removal of green space.

"There is no conflict with land use policies or designated constraints. As such, the principle of development is considered acceptable," the application says.

Residents have until July 8th to send any comments about the plan.
