A Sandbach engineer who makes quirky robots out of bits and pieces has made dreams come true for a 16-year-old boy with health struggles.

The charity, Creating Memories, spotted work by Mark Haig of Gizmobots on TV's 'Money for Nothing Programme'.

Electronics engineer, Mark Haig, uses objects from car boat sales, skips and scrapyard, to carefully craft robots, each with their own personality and use.

Bedfordshire-based Creating Memories charity founder, Pritti Saggi, saw his work on TV and contacted him to ask if he would make a robot for Hamza Gilani  who is mad about robots.

Hamza loves drawing robots.

Mark, whose business is based in a unit on the Zan Industrial estate in Wheelock, jumped at the chance.

He created him a Bluetooth enabled light sculpture so he could draw his robots whilst listening to music.

"It was an honour to be contacted by Creating Memories and to have them think of me for their special treat," said Mark.

"As soon as I heard about Hamza it reminded me of some of the people in my own life who've had health issues so it his situation certainly tugged at my heart strings.

"That, plus his love of robots, meant it was a no-brainer for me to make him something special. Seeing the smile on his face made it all worth it."

Hamza, who lives in Luton, has autism and Brittle Bone disease and loves robots, particularly drawing pictures of them.

Pritti said "It is wonderful to see Hamza again, and to be able to deliver wishes once more.

"It feels fantastic to have come full circle and now we can look forward to granting more - we already have another four scheduled to take place.

We are finally back to doing what we do best and it is wonderful to see so many smiles."
