Congleton MP, Sarah Russell, whose constituency includes Sandbach, joined town mayor, Councillor Ann Nevitt on the first day of Sandbach Transport Festival.

Sarah and Cllr Nevitt posed for photographs in front of Sandbach's famous Sandbach ancient monument - the crosses, among the best surviving examples of Anglo-Saxon high crosses.

Sarah stressed the importance of community events like the tansport festival.

She said: "The community is really important and that's what makes Sandbach such a special place."

Sandbach Transport Festival began today (Saturday) and is a two day event. Tomorrow the town's world-famous Foden's Band will be leading the parade through the town at the end at 4 pm.
