A major road in Sandbach has reopened to traffic after the water company closed the road to repair a sewer.

United Utilities closed Abbey Road to traffic earlier this week and traffic was diverted through other roads.

But the road has now reopened to traffic and the sewer has been repaired by contractors working for United Utilities.

A spokesperson for United Utilities told Sandbach|Nub News earlier this week: "There was a temporary road closure in place at Abbey Road in Sandbach to ensure our engineers can work safely while they repair a sewer."

The work was at the bottom end of the road and diversions for motorists were in place.
