Brother of Sandbach man, Steven Cook, who went missing 20 years ago in Greece confirms summons issued

The brother of Sandbach man, Steven Cook, reported missing in Crete 20 years ago this week has confirmed a summons has been issued for the arrest of a man.

Cheshire Police have not confirmed whether or not a man has been charged with murder following the death of Sandbach man, Steven Cook.

But Steven's older brother Chris, told Sandbach Nub News that a summons had been issued.

"Details are sketchy but we have been told a court case is pending," he said.

The Sandbach man was reported missing in Crete on September 2nd 2005 and his body was subsequently found on February 16th 2017.

A report appeared in The Mirror newspaper here reportedly saying a British man had confessed to the murder but there has been no further information from police.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: "Cheshire Constabulary is aware of the developments in the investigation into the death of Steven Cook, who was reported missing in Malia on Friday 2 September 2005, and the subsequent found deceased on Thursday 16 February 2017.

"At this time, we are working closely with the Greek Authorities and Stevens family who are being supported by specialist officers."
