There's camping and then there's camping ...

When you think of camping visions of rolling hills come to mind, not a council's headquarters.

Cheshire Police cordoned off the front of Cheshire East Council's headquarters in Sandbach after a man climbed up on to a ledge and pitched a tent.

Police, the fire service and ambulance service were all in attendance at the building, Westfields in Middlewich Road next to Sandbach police station.

The reception at the building was also closed and a board asked anyone needing access 'to phone a number' and firemen were seen going up in a cherry picker fire truck to speak to the man.

It is not known why the man was on the roof but a poster entitled "Justice" talking about 'modern day slavery and alleging someone had taken 21 years of his life' was near his tent.

"Police and fire are in attendance at the scene."
