A 15-year-old girl from Sandbach has set a new personal best on the international skating arena.
Rising star, Emma Frazer, a student at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College, set a personal best at the World Inline Figure Skating Association (WIFSA) Championships held recently in Fasano, Italy.
The event featured participants from 22 nations, with over 150 competitors across various categories, showcasing their talents and skills on the international stage.
Emma Frazer represented Great Britain alongside team members from across the country in the Silverblades GB contingent. Competing in the 2nd Division Novice Ladies Rhythm Dance and 3rd Division Junior Free Skating categories, Emma faced stiff competition.
In the 2nd Division Novice Ladies Rhythm Dance, she was placed 4th, achieving her PB score. In her other category, she secured 5th place. Emma's remarkable performance highlights her dedication and skill in the sport of inline figure skating.
Emma, who lives in Sandbach and skates on ice too, first laced up her boots at the tender age of six and trains weekly at the Altrincham Ice Rink in Greater Manchester.
Over the years, her passion and commitment to the sport have propelled her to represent her country in numerous national and international competitions.
Emma said: "Inline figure skating is like ice skating but performed on wheels instead of blades. It combines the same graceful routines and technical elements with the added challenge of balancing on a solid surface rather than gliding on ice."
Speaking about her passion for skating, Emma added: "Skating is not just a sport for me; it's a way of life. The feeling of performing is incomparable. Competing at the online figure skating championships has been a dream come true, and I'm grateful for the support from my family, coach, and teammates."
Emma's mother, Meg Frazer, shared her pride and admiration for her daughter's dedication. "Emma's commitment to skating is truly inspiring," said said.
"She balances her schoolwork and training and often makes sacrifices to ensure she succeeds in both. Seeing her compete at international level is a testament to her hard work and passion."
Emma's coach, Donna McCarthy who has worked closely with her for many years, praised Emma's exceptional skill and unwavering dedication.
"Emma is a world-class skater whose talent is matched only by her commitment. She trains with incredible focus and pushes herself to improve everyday," she said.
"Her performance at the Championships in July is a reflection of her relentless pursuit of excellence."
