Meet the engineer who has turned his hand to his favourite past-time – making sumptuous Italian food!

Talented food lover, Rob Blacklock, has launched a business selling authentic freshly prepared Italian fare from a street food truck.

And the father-of-two, who named his business Sisi Italian after daughter Sienna, called 'Si' for short, can't wait for the opening night.

The 39-year-old, who has worked in hospitality before, came up with the ingenious idea a while back after researching the market.

And on Friday 29th December, the business goes live at Sandbach Cricket Club in Hind Heath Road from 5 pm until 8 pm.

He will then be taking it to the Cosy Club in Haslington on Thursdays and a venue in Mobberley on Wednesdays.

"I've always loved Italian food. I researched the market and found there were only four or five similar businesses in the country," said Rob.

"The plan is to go to a variety of events and places in Cheshire and Staffordshire and hopefully a little further afield.

Rob, who lives in Ettiley Heath, Sandbach uses fresh ingredients and makes the pasta himself using a special pasta machine and semolina flour.

The business will be offering a three-course meal with a choice of starters, mains and desserts for £15 and will also be offering children's pasta dishes.

"The idea is to offer an Italian meal to takeaway using fresh, local ingredients. It's something different and we're looking forward to getting started," said Rob.

Rob, who was a bar manager at the old Curshaws in Nantwich in a former life, will be using recyclable packaging to serve up the food in.

And the menu which offers an "antipasti", "primo" and "dolce" will change every three months so customers can try something different each time.

Customers can choose how many dishes they choose off the menu.

"We're very excited about the business and look forward to being at various events and functions. We have a wedding and party menu selection for other occasions."

The business has a Facebook page here which will be updated with events and venues when the truck will be appearing.
