Home is where the heart is and that's right at the centre of a business for one South Cheshire man.

Ben Selby knows first-hand how tough it can be making the right choice for a loved one when relatives and family need a helping hand.

The enterprising care business owner was in that exact situation when his beloved grandfather developed Alzheimer's and vascular dementia.

"We didn't know much about dementia then. My grandfather was a proud man who had been Mayor of Kendal and had run a successful business," said Ben.

"He kept forgetting things and he and my grandmother had moved to a bungalow to retire.

"We called in a care company to look after him at home but we got frustrated and eventually sadly he went into a care home.

"He wanted to stay at home, as a lot of people do, but it was a question of finding the care tailored to his needs."

Fast-forward to today, and Right at Home South Cheshire and Mid Cheshire, of which Ben is managing director, is exactly the care model he wanted for his own grandfather.

Right at Home South Cheshire and Mid Cheshire is Sandbach Nub News' latest sponsor, a business which already has a big presence in the town, with offices at the historic Literary Institute in Hightown.

The businesses' eye-catching window design with the words 'Trust, quality, compassion and respect' give a clue to Right at Home's ethos, a business which provides care at home and live in care if required.

The business covers Sandbach, Alsager, Haslington, Crewe, Middlewich, Nantwich and Winsford.

"We aim to make a genuine difference to those we serve in our local community, not just to maintain quality of life but to improve it," says Ben.

"Our CareGivers are handpicked, provided with extensive training and matched to our clients based on personalities, to ensure we can build long-lasting, meaningful relationships."

Ben has worked in the care sector all his life and is proud to own his business where CareGivers are chosen with Ben's grandad in mind, providing quality homecare from one hour a week up to 24/7 care.

"We always think about whether we would want a person looking after our own family member," says Ben, who started Right at Home South Cheshire in 2016.

"Our teams are small, our preferred minimum visit time is an hour. It's about making time, providing a first-class service and providing home care which makes good sense financially for everyone involved."

Ben is an Alzheimer's Society Dementia Ambassador. He and his business are actively involved in dementia awareness, helping people to understand what dementia is in the local area.

He has appeared on TV talking about his care and the cost-of-living crisis and Ben ensures that his business is right at the heart of the community, helping to make a difference to people's lives.

And on tomorrow (July 5th), the business is doing what it does best – making its mark on the community and holding an event to mark the NHS's 75th birthday.

Right at Home's Sandbach office is holding an NHS Big Tea Party to raise money and provide extra support for NHS staff, patients and volunteers at its offices at the Literary Institute in Bradwall Road.
