Hair fashions come and go but popular Sandbach hairdresser, Debbie Carrahar, has found her finely-honed skills have never gone out of fashion.

The bubbly 52-year-old is celebrating a quarter of a century in business - the last 23 years from her stylish Welles Street salon - HBW Hair & Barber Works Unisex Salon

Prior to that, the hair-loving coiffeur practised her skills in another building in Crewe Road for two years, but now her business here is firmly rooted in Welles Street.

"I've always loved hair and hairdressing," said Debbie who started off her career as a teenager when she was a Saturday girl and then an apprentice.

"Even as a child, I was doing hair on my dolls. I just loving styling and working on hair.

"A woman's hair is her shining glory and one of the first things people look so it's important to get it right.

"Well-cared for hair with regular trips to the hairdresser means it's looked after and is one thing you don't need to think about."

Debbie, who has finely tuned her skills over a lengthy career, is also a qualified beautician having taken a course in Nantwich in her younger days.

"These days I only do eyebrows, waxing and lash tinting. That fits in well with my hairdressing work."

She is proud of her loyal customers and prides herself on providing a top-class – and this includes cutting and styling mens' and boys' hair as well.

"The business is called HBW Hair & Barber Works Unisex Salon because we offer a service to both men and women."

Debbie is renowned for her friendly, caring chit chat as she cleverly works wonders on a customer's hair.

"It's important that they feel at ease and relax. A visit to the hairdressers is a happy experience and one to be cherished," she said.

Sandbach Nub News Editor, Deborah Bowyer, has been one of Debbie's long-standing customers for several years.

"I wouldn't go anywhere else. You walk out feeling million dollars, no matter what you go in for - a cut and blow dry or a colour. She works magic!"

And to help new customers get a taste of Debbie's 'magic' she is offering new customers 25 per cent off the price of a cut and blow dry to mark her special anniversary.

"Times are tough for so many people at the moment so the more which is why my prices are very competitive."
