EE mobile phone users in Sandbach have been left without coverage over the last two days due to an upgrade to a mast in the town.

An old antenna on top of Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College is being removed and upgraded to improve network coverage in the town.

Mobile phone users were unable to make or receive calls or send texts and were told to use Wifi instead.

An EE spokesperson said: "The outage is due to essential network upgrade work on the mast.

"To remove old antenna, the work requires scaffolding and cranes.

"While it's difficult for the engineers to give an exact time for the completion of the work, they are hopeful service will start being restored this evening."
