Motorists face challenges after a water issue appears to have closed off a road

Motorists accessing Station Road in Elworth are facing problems after signs saying the road is closed appeared.

Signs in Station Road say "road ahead closed" and while a section of the road near the station has been sectioned off with a United Utilities sign saying: "We're working on the water pipes".

Elworth councillor Nicola Cook says on her Facebook page: "As residents might be aware we have two problems on Station Road in Elworth.

"The first is a water leak outside the station. As a consequence, the road has been closed by United Utilities from the London Road Traffic lights to the station entrance.

" The road closure licence is in place until Monday (1st September). Further down Station Road there are then two way traffic lights."
