Relief for motorists after water company eases road closure near Sandbach station for the weekend
Motorists using part of Sandbach will find some relief this weekend after a water company has temporarily lifted a road closure.
United Utilities say they have temporarily lifted the road closure in London Road this weekend to make life easier for motorists.
A United Utilities spokesperson said: "Due to two separate leaks in the Sandbach area, members of the public may have experienced temporary traffic delays on both London Road and Station Road this week.
"To ease traffic in the area ahead of the weekend, the road closure on London Road will be temporarily removed today (Friday 29 August).
"You may have also seen our water tankers in the area. These have now been stood down and the traffic management removed now that the repair has been completed. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank everyone for their patience."
Sandbach Nub News reported yesterday (Thursday) here how motorists accessing Station Road in Elworth were facing problems after signs saying the road is closed appeared.
Signs in Station Road said "road ahead closed" and while a section of the road near the station has been sectioned off with a United Utilities sign saying: "We're working on the water pipes".

Elworth councillor Nicola Cook says on her Facebook page: "As residents might be aware we have two problems on Station Road in Elworth.
"The first is a water leak outside the station. As a consequence, the road has been closed by United Utilities from the London Road Traffic lights to the station entrance.

" The road closure licence is in place until Monday (1st September). Further down Station Road there are then two way traffic lights."
Sandbach Nub News has contacted United Utilities for a comment.
