Motorists are being warned of delays after roadworks start on a major road in Sandbach.

The roadworks involve cabling which is being replaced between two sub stations - one on Elworth Road and one opposite Sandbach Rugby Club.

Vehicles arrived earlier today (Saturday) to start the work in Middlewich Road will be closed one way from Monday (April 1st) and Friday, April 5th

Between the 30th March and 31st March Middlewich Road will be reduced to one lane and controlled by two-way traffic lights.

Between 1st April and 5th April there will be a one-way road closure on Middlewich Road between Park Lane and Abbey Road.

This will mean that vehicles will be able to travel from Sandbach to Middlewich but will not be able to travel from Middlewich to Sandbach.

This means that vehicles will not be able to turn right out of Abbeyfields Estate and left out of Grange Way, Roman Close and Dalton Court.

Between 6th April and 14th April, Middlewich Road will be reduced to one lane controlled by two-way traffic lights.

Cheshire East's councillor for Elworth, Nicola Cook, has put out posts on social media to help motorists.

She said: "This is clearly going to bring some challenges so please try and allow extra time for your journey. If you have any questions, please get in touch."
