Motorway drugs raid

Police swooped on a car carrying nearly £49,000 drugs just after it had passed Sandbach on Saturday.

A Cheshire police spokesman said: "A car travelled along the M6 northbound junction 16 – 17 before we initiated the stop on the A556 Northwich bypass."

Officers from Cheshire Police Road and Crime Unit swooped on the vehicle, carrying cannabis. No other details have been released.
