Motorists are being urged to allow extra time after the closure of the M6 near Sandbach earlier today due to a power cable.

The motorway was closed in both directions earlier today (Friday) due to a fallen power cable.

A spokesperson from National Highways said: "The M6 has now reopened in both directions between J17 and J18 following the earlier incident.

"Delays of approx. 90 minutes and 12 miles of congestion remain on approach, please allow time for these delays to clear."
