A singer-songwriter from Sandbach has paid homage to football legend, Kevin Keegan, who sadly died today (Monday) after battling cancer.

Jon Stevens was lucky enough to play for Kevin at an event at Middlewich Cricket Club two years ago, describing him as "an absolute true gent".

"Instead of talking about football, he was quizzing me all about the gigs I do, and where I perform etc. I found this to be totally altruistic, (given the fact he's been such a legend of his sport.)

"Ironically he talked about his grandkids being United fans, and how they taunted him. I can honestly say once again, what a crackin' bloke, and it was an honour to meet and play for him.

My sincere condolences are with his family and friends at this very tough time. RIP Kevin. You will always be a legend J.S X Jon Stevens Music."
