Results of an exclusive Nub News Readers' poll reveal that Labour's anticipated dominance in the upcoming general election might not be as comprehensive as expected.

With warnings to Sir Kier Starmer of complacency, 29 per cent of subscribers in our towns across the country said they currently plan to vote for a Labour candidate come July 4.

This figure starkly contrasts with the 42 per vent vote share predicted for Labour by other sources, painting a picture of a much tighter and uncertain race.

However, the lower numbers Labour will still be little consolation to Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives who sit second in the poll with just 20 per cent of the votes, which would be less than half the amount they received in the 2019 election.

The Tories only narrowly edged out Nigel Farage's Reform and Sir Ed Davey's Liberal Democrats who each had 19 per cent of the vote share, taking the votes from Labour.

Specifically for the Congleton constituency which includes Sandbach, the poll found 38.04 per cent of readers would vote for Labour's Sarah Russell if the election was held today.

This poll also indicated Reform UK had taken over The Conservatives in the constituency, achieving almost one quarter of the vote.

Reform UK's Martin York received more votes than the Tories in the Nub News Poll (Reform UK).

Reform's candidate, Martin York, who is representing the party in the Cheshire constituency for the first time, achieved 24.6 per cent.

Current Conservative MP, Fiona Bruce, came in third, receiving 17.54 per cent. This was a decrease of 41.46 per cent from her 2019 victory.

Specifically in Crewe and Nantwich, the results were very similar to the national picture, with Labour way out in front on almost 42 per cent (Labour Party).

There was little between Green Party's Richard McCarthy (2.96 per cent) and Kay Wesley's Women's Equality Party (2.28 per cent).

• Richard McCarthy - (Green Party) - 2.96 per cent
• Kay Wesley- (Women's Equality Party) - 2.28 per cent

Nub News polled 3,000 newsletter subscribers between 12.30 pm on Wednesday 12 June and midnight on Thursday 13 June. Readers were only able to register a single vote for a local candidate.
