One person was treated for smoke inhalation after a tumble dryer caught fire near Sandbach.

Firefighters were called to the house in Warmingham Lane, Moston at 2.49 pm yesterday (Wednesday).

One fire engine from Crewe and another from Middlewich went to the incident.

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters in breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to put out a fire involving a tumble dryer.

"A high pressure fan was used to clear smoke. An ambulance was requested due to the householder suffering smoke inhalation."
