Plans have been submitted to extend and convert a three-storey former manor house in Middlewich into a residential care home.

Applicant J Reid wants to convert Ravenscraig Manor at Chester Road and add three extensions.

A design and access statement submitted by GW Architectural on behalf of the applicant states: "There are 17 ensuite rooms for residents with social spaces including a lounge, dining area and kitchen.

"There will be provision for staff areas which will consist of a manager's and administration offices, a staff changing area, a staff laundry and sluice area and a staff restroom.

"The front courtyard will provide parking and space for food deliveries and access for emergency vehicles.

"The rear outdoor space will be used as a private secured landscaped garden area and sensory area."

Chester Road is heavily populated with trees and forested areas and the planning document states this will provide an enclosed stepped rear space for the care home to be situated away from the main road.

"This provides the residents with privacy and provides a safe external boundary for the site. The existing secured boundary enclosures will be retained," it states.

"Within the development, the external grounds will be updated to provide a sensory garden. The windows of the southern extension will overlook this view.

"A private secured garden cleverly landscaped to benefit the residents will be located between the existing manor house and the southern extension."

The proposal includes making small changes to the existing building to accommodate the extra rooms.

The planning statement says: "These changes would be in keeping with the existing scale and materials."

The existing access and egress will be retained leading into Ravenscraig Manor House.

It is planned that all vehicles will use this and there is a large car park on site.

The application, number 23/1799C, can be viewed on the planning portal on Cheshire East Council's website.

The last date for submitting comments is June 14 and the application is due to be determined by a planning officer under delegated authority.
