Residents living in the Elworth area of Sandbach hear the police helocopter circling round last night (Thursday).

Armed police were called to help local police carry out a search of the area.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: "At around 8.55pm on Thursday 10 July, police were called to reports of a man armed with a weapon on Lightley Close, Sandbach.

"Local officers attended, supported by firearms and the Police helicopter, and conducted a search of the area.

"There was no trace of anything suspicious, and no arrests were made."
