A village near Sandbach is to have its Post Office restored – in a local methodist church!

The Post Office has revealed it's reopening Goostrey Post Office at a new location – Goostrey Methodist Church, just metres away.

The church premises is currently being adapted for the new use and Goostrey Post Office and an opening date will be announced shortly.

The new premises, 178 Main Road, is just 60 metres away from the old one at 168 Main Road, Goostrey. The Post Office was forced to look for new premises after their old premises was "no longer available".

A Post Office spokesperson said: "This will restore service to the community as the former premises at 168 Main Road, Goostrey, were no longer available for Post Office use. These new premises are close by.

"The outreach Post Office will continue to be provided by the Postmaster for Plumley.

"There will be a dedicated Post Office serving position within the Methodist Church. This Church is undergoing works and a new ramp and door will be installed at the entrance.

"There is a car park for customers at the Methodist Church and roadside parking is also available nearby."

The opening hours for the new location will remain as Monday: 12.30 – 5pm; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 2.30 – 5pm.

"Similar products and services will continue to be available including Vehicle Tax and Euros On Demand Travel Money," the spokesperson added.

"We are keen to restore service to the community as soon as possible, so the decision has already been made.

"However, we would still like your views on access and the service offered at the new location.

"The opportunity to give feedback will close on 19 April. Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 168470.

"Submissions can also be made via email to [email protected], by post to Freepost YOUR COMMENTS, or by telephone 03452 66 01 15 or Textphone 03457 22 33 55."
