Sandbach town centre fell silent at 11 am today (Sunday) as crowds turned out to honour the courage and sacrifice those serving our country have made.

The town was treated to two famous bands as Roberts Bakery Band led the procession from Westfields, Cheshire East's HQ to the War Memorial while Lions Brass Band played in Market Square.

Crowds lined Middlewich Road to watch the long parade of people who included dignatories, the Freemasons, the police, service cadets, scouts, brownies and rainbows.

President of the Sandbach branch of the Royal British Legion, Tom Price-Jones said a few words along with the Rev David Ottley to the large gathered crowd.

Wreaths were laid at the memorial by a number of dignatories including Sandbach Mayor Councillor Geraint Price-Jones.

Rev Ottley hhad stepped in to take the service from St Mary's Church vicar, the Rev Bee Boyde who is on her final few days before returning to work after testing positive for COVID.

A Remembrance Sunday service was then held in St Mary's Church where various readings took place and a wreath taken to the back of the church and placed under the Royal British Legion Standards.

In other parts of Sandbach parades and services took place. At Elworth Methodist Church there was a march to the War Memorial where a two minutes' silence was held.

Meanwhile St John's Church Sandbach Heath held a service and two minutes' silence today.

This evening (Sunday) St Peter's Church, Elworth held a 6.30pm service with an Act of Remembrance.
