Repairs carried out on the motorway bridge at Sandbach after car falls on to the M6

Emergency barrier repairs have been completed on a bridge going over the M6 at Sandbach following yesterday's incident.

All lanes on the northbound carriageway are now open following the incident which involved the driver of the car being air lifted to hospital.   

The impression on the M6 after a Vauxhall Corsa fell from the bridge

The M6 was closed northbound after a white Vauxhall Corsa fell from the bridge along the A534 Congleton Road onto the northbound carriageway of the motorway at 1.10 pm.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "The incident involved a white Vauxhall Corsa which had fallen from the bridge along the A534 Congleton Road onto the northbound carriageway of the motorway.

"The driver of the car, a man, was taken to hospital by air ambulance. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time."
