The road signs are up, the dog bins are in place and the impressive play area and exercise space is open but the road issue still hasn't been sorted on a Sandbach housing estate.

Residents living on the Broadmeadow estate off Abbey Road in Elworth are still waiting for their roads to be properly surfaced and footpaths finished - months and years after moving in.

They claim that the paths and roads are dangerous - not only to motorists but also to anyone walking through the estate.

One resident, who wished not to be named, said she moved in four years ago.

"It's ridiculous," she said. "Goodness knows what damage it's doing to our cars."

The developers, the Clarion Housing Group, say they are working with both United Utilities and Cheshire East Highways to resolve the issue.

A spokesperson for Clarion Housing Group said: "We continue to work closely with United Utilities, as the adopting body for the drainage, and with Cheshire East Highways to progress the final surfacing and adoption of the estate roads.

"Residents will be kept informed as things move forward and will be the first to receive any updates, with further detail shared as works progress."

A Clarion Housing spokesperson said previously: "We have also installed new street signs, repaired street lighting, and carried out temporary pothole repairs. Further road repairs have been instructed and will be completed in the coming weeks."

Sandbach Nub News has approached both United Utilities and Cheshire East Council for a comment about Broadmeadow Park.
