Residents moved to another part of building after fire in a room in care home near Sandbach

Between 40 to 50 residents were evacuated to another part of the building after a fire in a room at a care home in Middlewich today (Tuesday).

Three fire engines - from Winsford, Northwich and Crewe - went to the fire in Greendale Drive which is thought to have been started accidentally. .

The residents were moved to another part of the building at The Manor Care Home at 8.08 am today.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus took a hose reel jet into the building, but the fire was reportedly out on arrival.

"A high-pressure fan was used to clear smoke. Residents were evacuated; thankfully no one has been reported as harmed during the incident. The cause is believed to have been accidental."
